Important: My Photography Tips are Moving

Hello everybody. I’m moving my photography lessons to my site swamiphoto.com/tips. All my hand-drawn tips are there organized by topic. Well, while I’m here, let me share a tip:

Whether you're using natural or artificial light, position your model so the light hits them from the side. This creates a bit of shadow on the other side which emphasizes depth and results in a more pleasing look. Without the shadow, the face will look flat.

While the model looks nice, the light is shining straight at her, so her face looks flat.

Here, she is lit from the side, so there is shadow on the other side. Her face is nicely defined.
